Hunter Valley wine hub opens under new ownership focused on small producers
Matt and Kylie White now run Wine House Hunter Valley to help the Hunter Valley's independent winemakers.
Matt and Kylie White, both experienced in the wine industry, are the new owners of Wine House Hunter Valley at Pokolbin. Matt has three decades of wine-buying experience in Australia and the UK.
Kylie runs a wine marketing consultancy in the region. The Whites identified a significant gap in the Hunter Valley wine market.
The Hunter Valley is home to more than 150 independent winemakers, many without their own tasting venues. Among them is Silkman Wines, made by Liz Silkman, the only Halliday Winemaker of the Year award-winner, which has never had a cellar door.
The new owners plan to offer a curated range of Hunter wines by the glass and bottle. Members' wine club access is also available.
Visitors can now taste and buy from multiple small producers in one visit. This eliminates the need to drive between individual wineries.
