Officer chases attacker while holding neck wound after stabbing
Ten-week-old trainee stabbed in neck and torso during domestic callout gave chase and deployed taser while controlling his bleeding.
Queensland police called to a domestic disturbance in Hemmant near Brisbane on Sunday morning. One of two men at the house allegedly attacked an officer with an implement, stabbing him in the neck and torso.
The injured officer, a second officer was slashed across the forehead. The injured man, in his 40s, trained for just ten weeks, gave chase as the attacker fled on a bike.
Police Union president Shane Prior said the officer deployed his taser while holding his neck to stop the bleeding. The suspect dumped the bike and was found on foot, arrested about 7am.
The officer was taken to hospital in stable condition. Prior said they may very well have been talking about a scenario where an officer was killed today just doing their job.
