21-year-old on suspended licence led 20km police chase before crashing
The 21-year-old driver faces charges including driving on a suspended licence, speeding over 45kmh above the limit, and driving a stolen vehicle.
Police attempted to stop an allegedly stolen vehicle at Mount Saint Thomas on Saturday at 6.15pm. The driver did not stop, starting a 20km pursuit.
With help from Lake Illawarra Police District, officers chased the car to Daintree Drive in Albion Park, where it crashed into a parked vehicle. The 21-year-old driver and her 34-year-old passenger were uninjured.
The younger woman was charged with not stopping for police, speeding more than 45kmh over the limit, driving with a suspended licence, driving on a learner's permit without a licensed supervisor, and driving a vehicle without the owner's permission.
The 34-year-old passenger was charged with being carried in a stolen vehicle. Both were granted conditional bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court in October.
