Lone Wolf bikie granted bail after returning from Bali to face charges

Mitchell West, a high-ranking Lone Wolf member, was arrested at Sydney Airport and granted conditional bail after 18 months in Bali.

Mitchell West, 33, came back to Australia voluntarily after learning police had issued a warrant for his arrest. After being detained at Sydney Airport on Friday, West was granted strict conditional bail in Newcastle Local Court on Monday.

The Lone Wolf gang member faces charges including wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery, and demanding property with threats. He was allegedly armed with a hammer during a home invasion.

It happened at a Cardiff motel in February last year. A 30-year-old man suffered head injuries.

West also allegedly demanded $50,000 from another man in an extortion attempt. Bail conditions include a $500,000 surety, a curfew, daily police reporting, and surrender of his passport.

His trial is unlikely to begin for at least 18 months.
