Federal Parliament will sit at Old Parliament House for the first time in decades to mark 100 years since moving to Canberra.
The Federal Parliament will hold a special sitting at Old Parliament House in April 2027 to mark a century since the nation's parliament first met in Canberra. MPs and senators will conduct Question Time, pass legislation, and make statements in the historic chambers where parliament sat from 1927 to 1988.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the day will combine celebration with real parliamentary work. Energy Minister Chris Bowen called it a chance to stand at the same dispatch boxes as John Curtin, Ben Chifley, Robert Menzies and Gough Whitlam.
The building now houses the Museum of Australian Democracy. This will be the first sitting there in decades.
