Man jailed three years for choking pregnant partner and threatening to drown her
Aidan Travis Rigby, 26, was sentenced to three years' jail with a 20-month non-parole period for repeatedly assaulting his pregnant partner.
Aidan Travis Rigby attacked his partner on New Year's Day 2026 at his Tocumwal home. The woman was 19 weeks pregnant.
Rigby repeatedly hit her face, bit her shoulder blade, and squeezed her throat in a headlock. When struggling to breathe, she told him she was pregnant.
He replied: "I know, that is the only reason I am not killing you." Rigby then said he would drown her at the river.
Later he grabbed her in another headlock and gouged her left eye, causing a cracking sensation. She escaped when he exited the car to open a gate and drove to hospital.
Rigby had a significant history of domestic violence involving the same victim. Judge Melissa Humphreys sentenced him to three years' jail with a 20-month non-parole period, making him ineligible for release until August 2027.
She granted a 10-year apprehended domestic violence order for the victim's protection.
