Goulburn man refused bail after allegedly assaulting partner in Canberra
A NSW business owner was refused bail after allegedly assaulting his partner, who was hospitalized with injuries across her body.
An ACT Magistrates Court has refused bail for a Goulburn man accused of assaulting his partner during a visit to Canberra on October 20. The woman was hospitalized with injuries to multiple areas of her body.
The man was first alleged to have assaulted her in July. When shown CCTV footage of the incident, he told police he did not remember what happened and went into a rage.
He has entered not guilty pleas to four counts of assault. The magistrate noted the woman called Triple Zero three times but did not tell police details until she was safe at the hospital.
The magistrate said refusing bail was appropriate given the severity and sustained nature of the alleged assaults.
