Tesla finally reveals next-generation Roadster after 9 years of delays
Tesla is unveiling the next-generation Roadster on Thursday after failing to meet any promised delivery date since 2017.
Tesla is revealing the long-awaited next-generation Roadster on Thursday evening, almost a decade after Elon Musk's company first started taking customer deposits for the electric sports car. The original Roadster was released in 2008 and cost around $100,000.
The new version is expected to use SpaceX technology, including cold gas thrusters, and could potentially hover. Tesla reopened reservations for the car in recent weeks.
It is accepting $50,000 deposits from buyers in the US, Canada and China. Executives are expected to announce pricing, specifications and production timelines on Thursday.
The delays have become legendary. Musk first promoted the refreshed concept in 2017.
