McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri crashed on the last lap of the Singapore sprint race.
McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided on the final lap of the Singapore F1 sprint on Saturday. Norris, running fifth behind Piastri in fourth, tried to overtake but clipped Piastri's rear tyre.
Both cars spun. Piastri retired while Norris finished eighth.
The crash allowed Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli to claim fourth. The pair had been chasing Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who was struggling with his tyres late in the race.
Norris apologised over team radio and to Sky Sports, saying he thought he had space at the apex. The incident was one of nine retirements in the sprint, a record number for an F1 sprint race.
Both drivers were summoned to the stewards. Red Bull's Max Verstappen took pole position for Sunday's main race, with Leclerc second, Norris fifth and Piastri seventh.
