Daycare investigated after toddler unresponsive in playground
Three-year-old was unresponsive for over three minutes at Queensland daycare.
A three-year-old boy suddenly stopped moving while playing at Little Creek Early Learning in Loganlea. The boy's playmate quickly saw something was wrong and tried to help, then ran off.
A staff member entered the frame shortly after, watching as other children gathered around. About 30 seconds later, she walked over and leaned down to check on the toddler.
She then placed him into the recovery position. More than three minutes after he first became unresponsive, staff carried him from the playground.
The centre called his mother instead of calling an ambulance. His mother arrived to find him pale and unresponsive.
She took him directly to hospital for 24-hour observation. The Queensland Early Childhood Regulatory Authority has launched an investigation.
