Nurse struck off after submitting five fraudulent job applications
Nurse Lauren Butler's registration has been cancelled after she submitted fraudulent job applications. She cannot reapply for at least three years.
Between 2020 and 2023, Lauren Elizabeth Butler submitted at least five fraudulent applications. These were for roles with Ambulance Tasmania and Launceston General Hospital.
She used a fake paramedicine degree and altered university transcripts to support her applications. She also submitted forged Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency receipts and fake registration numbers.
When investigators called her university, they found the academic credentials were fake. When called for an interview, she claimed she had been admitted to hospital.
She supplied a medical certificate naming a doctor who left two years earlier. The hospital confirmed she was never admitted.
A tribunal found her conduct "inherently serious, dishonest, and falls well below the professional standards expected of nurses." Her registration has been cancelled and she cannot reapply for at least three years.
