Axe Creek bounced Emu Creek by six wickets in the Emu Valley Cricket Association season opener on Saturday. The victory snapped a 13-match losing streak against their rivals, the last win coming in 2011-12.
Emu Creek batted first and scored 8-137 off 40 overs. Axe Creek chased the target down in just 29 overs for four wickets.
Batsman Amarpreet Singh top-scored with a quickfire 34 off 24 balls including three fours and two sixes. Ash Dixon took 3-25 with the ball for the Cowboys.
Wet weather disrupted the round, but three of four division one games were completed.
