Muslim Votes Matter shifts tactic in Victoria election to block One Nation

Muslim Votes Matter will direct supporters to vote Labor to block One Nation in Victoria's state election.

Muslim Votes Matter is relaxing its anti-Labor stance for Victoria's state election on 28 November, directing supporters to vote Labor ahead of Pauline Hanson's One Nation. The grassroots advocacy group will send volunteers to Greenvale and Narre Warren South, outer suburban seats with large Muslim populations that Labor fears could swing to One Nation.

The group will also have volunteers in Tarneit, where 14.6% of residents are Muslim. At the federal election last year, the group endorsed Greens and independents to punish Labor over how it handled Israel's war in Gaza.

National spokesperson Ghaith Krayem said circumstances have changed. But the group will still not rank Labor first on its how-to-vote cards.

He said Muslim communities fear that if the Coalition cannot form majority government, it could be forced to negotiate with One Nation.
