Garden City Cycleway Stage 1 is now complete, offering dedicated paths from Ainslie to Canberra's CBD.
The final segment of the Garden City Cycleway opened this week after work began in 2024. The $10.4 million project, jointly funded by the ACT and Australian governments, connects Ainslie, Braddon and Dickson to Canberra's centre with wide concrete and asphalt paths.
The route includes 10 new zebra crossings and traffic signals to improve safety. Stage 2 design is underway and will push the cycleway further north to Watson, with another $10 million committed.
