A Bali resident's wife waited two and a half hours for fuel before dawn

Officials were told of a diversion at two fuel sites, and the flow is being restored gradually.

Some drivers in parts of Bali are spending hours in queues at petrol stations. Some queues in Denpasar and southern Badung, including Kuta, spill onto nearby roads.

Supplies of Pertalite, a type of petrol, and at some stations Pertamax, are getting harder to find. One resident said his wife joined the queue at 4.30am and waited two and a half hours.

At a station on Jalan Raya Sesetan in Denpasar, motorists were told Pertalite had run out. Ida Bagus Setiawan, head of Bali's Manpower and Energy and Mineral Resources Agency, said authorities were working with fuel supplier Pertamina last week.

Officials were told of a diversion involving the Pesanggaran depot and Manggis Transit Terminal. Setiawan said supply is being restored gradually, and officials are still waiting for details on the cause.

Similar fuel supply problems also led to long queues in late August.

Why it mattersAnyone who needs to fuel up in Denpasar or Kuta could spend hours in a queue until supply returns.

AustraliaAustralians visiting Bali could face fuel queues in Denpasar and Kuta while supply is restored.
