Crime spree ends with freeway shutdown, 19-year-old jailed
Ino Juol-Thor, 19, jailed one month for theft after freeway police operation.
Juol-Thor pleaded guilty to theft less than 24 hours after his arrest. Magistrate Suzette Dootjes sentenced him to one month in jail, describing the conduct as very serious despite his limited role.
Police allege the group broke into a Brighton East home and stole a Nissan 4WD and an Audi, then used them in a Hampton Park home invasion. Juol-Thor's lawyer said police had not accused his client of involvement in the alleged home break-ins.
The Nissan was later driven recklessly on the Eastlink before police intercepted it on the Monash Freeway near Chadstone, halting traffic. Six males aged 16 to 20 were arrested in the tactical police operation.
