Man sentenced to 12 months for sexual assault of Kmart employee
Rikki Davis, 44, jailed for inappropriate comments and hand contact with a teenage worker.
A Corrimal man deliberately approached a teenage Kmart employee in the Barbie aisle and asked inappropriate questions to make her uncomfortable. Davis asked if she was single, whether he could have her phone number, and told her he thought she was "pretty good looking".
Davis then said: "You want me to break you in? I can break you in."
After they found the dolls, he placed his hand on her back and dragged it across. The girl was so frightened she went to the bathroom and got a manager involved.
Davis pleaded guilty to common assault and two counts of intimidation. Wollongong Local Court heard Davis believed he was being profiled as a shoplifter at Kmart Figtree and wanted to make the employee feel uncomfortable.
Judge Geraldine Beattie rejected that excuse. Davis was sentenced to 12 months jail with a non-parole period of seven months.
He is expected to be released in May 2027.
