Singer Katie Noonan turns Trent Dalton love diary into healing album
Singer Katie Noonan asked author Trent Dalton for writing; he gave her 153 pages of thoughts, lyrics and dreams.
Katie Noonan sat in a theatre watching a stage play based on author Trent Dalton's work when she learned her marriage was ending. Noonan, an ARIA award-winning singer, and Dalton had known each other since 2001, when he was a young journalist and she was the lead voice of the indie band named george.
After the show, she told Dalton how much the writing moved her and admitted her relationship was falling apart. Weeks later, living alone on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Noonan reached out with an idea: could she use his words for the Australian Vocal Ensemble, an a capella group she sings with?
Dalton had 153 pages of thoughts, lyrics and dreams he wrote as a young man falling in love with his wife, Fiona. He said yes.
The result is an album about love's wonder and its heartache, helping Noonan move forward.
