Adelaide venture firm closes debut fund for regional tech startups
Adelaide-based venture firm raised $30 million for its debut fund, backed by Funds SA and 50 sophisticated investors.
Eastend Ventures Fund 1 targets early-stage tech companies across South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland, mostly business-to-business. Funds SA, which manages more than $50 billion including public sector super funds, anchored the round with $5 million in June.
More than 50 sophisticated investors and family offices from Australia, Singapore and the US followed. The fund has already deployed more than $8 million across seven startups.
Portfolio companies include Priori Analytica, an Adelaide defence analytics startup deploying into NATO and US Navy programs this year, and Heatseeker, an AI marketing tool used by L'Oréal, Cisco and DoorDash.
Jack App, a job management software business, has expanded into North America. Eastend targets exits within around five years, backing founders building businesses worth $200 million to $500 million.
