Another $1.5 billion data centre planned for Wyong
A $1.5 billion data centre planned for Wyong will use 150 megawatts of power.
A $1.5 billion data centre is planned for Wyong on a 12-hectare industrial site in NSW. The two-storey facility will use about 150 megawatts of power and has a target IT load of 96 megawatts.
The design uses dry air cooling. The facility sits less than one kilometre from existing Ausgrid power infrastructure.
This allows direct connection without new transmission lines. The 24-hour operation includes office space and parking for 85 vehicles.
The project fits a broader NSW boom. A $3.7 billion data centre is planned at Kurri Kurri.
Another $10 billion plan has been floated for a battery project at Muswellbrook. This project will power a future data centre.
Data centres provide infrastructure for artificial intelligence, financial technology, digital media, and cloud computing. They also support data-dependent services such as remote healthcare.
