Bendigo art show puts faces to mental health, not diagnoses
An art show in Bendigo features work by people with lived mental health experience, celebrating the whole person not just illness.
The show is called Aligning Perceptions. It opened at Dudley House in Bendigo with paintings, drawings, photos and craft by artists with mental health experience.
The goal is to challenge assumptions and start real conversations. In hospitals, doctors know patients by their diagnosis or treatment.
This show invites people to see beyond that. It asks them to recognise the strengths, creativity and individuality in every person.
The exhibition brings together diverse voices from central Victoria. Each artwork tells a story that will not show up in a medical record.
The Bendigo Health Foundation provided funding so all artists could participate. The exhibition runs from Friday October 30 to Monday November 2 at Dudley House, 60 View Street, Bendigo.
