Family forgives young driver in quad bike death
Jed Griffin's family has chosen compassion over blame after the 25-year-old died at a football ground.
Jed Griffin, 25, died on September 20 after colliding with a goalpost while being towed behind a quad bike at Osborne Recreation Reserve. John Ryan, 20, the driver, was charged with dangerous driving causing death and negligent driving causing death.
The Griffin family has made an extraordinary choice. The family say it was just a freak accident and hold no hard feelings toward Ryan.
Sister Darby hugged him just an hour after the crash and told him she loved him. The family has promised Ryan community support and said they will stand by him as the legal process unfolds.
Darby said the family will honour Jed's memory by living fully, just as he did.
