Rockley community honours Billie Fitzpatrick after teen's 15-year battle with
Billie Fitzpatrick, 15, died of brain cancer, and her small community rallied to honour her.
Billie Fitzpatrick fought brain cancer for more than a year. She had surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
She often smiled through it all. Billie died on September 15.
She was surrounded by family and friends. She was 15 years old.
The Rockley community responded fast. On September 27, dozens of locals gathered at the cemetery.
They brought tools and cleaned the grounds. They wanted it ready for her burial.
On September 26, the community held a fundraiser at the Sportsground. It followed the local footy game.
The money went to the Fitzpatrick family. Billie's funeral is set for Thursday, October 1, at 11am at the Sportsground.
Then she will be buried at Rockley Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to the Rockley Pub after, to share stories.
