Canberra thrift shop owner gives away car to single mother
Adam Charif gave away a Toyota Camry to single mother Karen after more than 100 nominations.
Adam Charif received more than 100 nominations for who most needed a car from the community. Adam Charif and his staff spent days reviewing each one before choosing Karen, a single mother with two children.
Karen had been borrowing a car from a friend while saving for her own. When told she had won, she was overwhelmed.
She now owns the vehicle outright and can return the borrowed car to her friend. Charif said his own childhood without a car made this gift important to him.
