Wolli Creek station axed from South Coast Line; airport passengers must change
South Coast Line removes Wolli Creek station starting November 15. This adds six minutes to commutes but boosts frequency.
Sydney Trains starts its new South Coast Line timetable November 15. Wolli Creek station is removed for express service to the airport.
Airport passengers must now change twice at Sutherland then Wolli Creek, or travel to Central instead. Each option adds time to a 90-minute journey.
Daily commuters from Wollongong to Sydney will face an extra six minutes each way. Those from Waterfall will spend 12 to 14 minutes longer.
In exchange, trains will run every 15 minutes during peak hours. Off-peak and weekend trains will run every 30 minutes.
This separation of South Coast and T4 services between Arncliffe and Central increases capacity and fixes a bottleneck that caused reliability problems.
