Sydney trains running more often, but expect longer journeys from November 15
Three major Sydney train lines change timetables on November 15. T4 and South Coast frequencies increase, but some journeys take longer.
Three major Sydney train lines will change timetables on November 15, serving about 250,000 daily passengers. The T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra line and South Coast line will run trains more frequently: the T4 will see every-4-minute and every-3-minute services from key stations, up from every 5 and 3.5 minutes.
South Coast passengers will see four trains per hour instead of three, meaning a train every 15 minutes instead of every 20. The trade-off is longer individual journeys: passengers on the T4 between Waterfall and Central will spend up to about 14 minutes longer on the train.
The changes include dedicated express tracks designed to untangle the lines and boost capacity. Some passengers will need to change trains more often to reach certain stations.
