New $7.5M Yarrawonga library opened October 27, expected to become the region's second most-visited branch.
More than three years after construction began, Yarrawonga's new $7.5M library opened on October 27 with more than 200 people in attendance. The facility is expected to become the second most-visited branch in the Goulburn Valley Libraries network, likely overtaking Cobram.
The chief executive of Goulburn Valley Libraries, Sallyanne Boyle, described the opening as a 'party atmosphere' and noted strong interest from local residents and tourists who can access Wi-Fi and printing services.
Community members raised $130,000 to fund equipment and furniture for the new library. The building sits behind the old Yarrawonga Shire Hall on Belmore Street and includes spaces for events and performances.
