Frankie's Tavern opens at Newcastle's King Street on October 31

Frankie's Tavern opens Saturday at 222 King Street, Newcastle, replacing the closed MEET Restaurant.

MEET Restaurant's 11-year run ended on October 18. The team behind Charred, Frenchie and Alfie's has rebuilt the space as Frankie's.

Frankie's opens to the public on Saturday, October 31. The new venue seats approximately 80 guests.

It serves burgers and martinis, seafood, handmade pasta, grilled meats and classic desserts. Group executive chef Rafael Tonon leads the kitchen.

He focuses on familiar dishes, quality ingredients and careful cooking. The space draws on old-world tavern design with New York influences.

Sommelier Ally McLean said the venue feels like a place you visit often. It works for a quick bite, a long lunch or dinner.
