Bendigo cancer centre opens with space for families
Bendigo hospital expanded its oncology centre from four to nine treatment areas.
St John of God Bendigo expanded its Oncology and Infusion Centre on Level 1. The centre grew from four to nine treatment areas.
The new space includes room for patients' loved ones during treatment, plus better privacy and natural light. The hospital now also offers immunotherapy and iron infusions alongside cancer care.
Director of Nursing and Midwifery Liz McEncroe said patient and family feedback shaped the design. Nurse unit manager Jacqueline Byrne, who brings more than 12 years of oncology experience, will lead the expanded team.
The extra space improves scheduling flexibility as demand grows.
