One Nation tied with Labor in NSW mining heartland polls
One Nation and Labor tie at 33% in NSW mining regions. Greens hit 16%.
NSW Labor is fighting for its life in mining heartlands just months before a state election. A poll shows One Nation and Labor tied at 33 percent in mining areas.
The Greens surged to 16 percent and the Coalition fell to 14 percent. One Nation has no current MPs on Macquarie St. Premier Chris Minns acknowledged the political reality, saying One Nation leaders "are polling extraordinarily well".
His government is trying to rebrand NSW as "the mining state". Natural Resources Minister Courtney Houssos is promoting updated planning reforms, a royalties deferral scheme and a coal plan.
Both One Nation and the Coalition attacked Labor over a High Court decision blocking a mine expansion in Muswellbrook. They argued the state's emissions rules are strangling industry growth.
