Bar Beirut sweeps Canberra hospitality awards with six wins
Bar Beirut swept six awards at the ACT hospitality awards, including Hotel of the Year and Chef of the Year.
Bar Beirut won six awards at the Australian Hotels Association event in late September, including Hotel of the Year, Best Cocktail List, Best Casual Dining Experience, Best Unique Bar Experience, and Best Vegetarian Meal.
Chef Halima Fouzia won Chef of the Year. Chantelle and Soumi Tannous were in Lebanon when they heard.
Receiving the awards while visiting family made it especially meaningful. Soumi grew up in Lebanon.
The couple drew inspiration from Lebanese hospitality and culture when they opened the venue. Other notable winners included Lager House, which won Best New or Redeveloped Venue, Best Steak, and Best Parmi.
The Old Canberra Inn won Best Chip.
