Veteran Stringer poised for St Kilda move
The 32-year-old forward is likely to sign with St Kilda after not being retained by GWS.
Jake Stringer, 32, is set to join St Kilda for 2027 after conversations between the club and the veteran forward escalated rapidly over the last 72 hours. Stringer kicked 48 goals at GWS in 2026, his best output since 2015, but the club declined to offer him a new contract.
Stringer met with former club Essendon and coach Mark McVeigh (his cousin by marriage) last Sunday but the Bombers said it was a broad meeting, not a contract pitch. St Kilda is now working through the finer details of an arrangement, with a formal offer expected within days.
The move would make Stringer a four-club player after stints with Western Bulldogs, Essendon, GWS and the Saints. Stringer played 89 games with the Bulldogs and won the 2016 premiership before joining Essendon.
