Brisbane maps dawn economy to attract early risers
Council surveying residents on early-morning habits to improve transport and parks.
Brisbane City Council is asking residents to describe their experiences between 4am and 7am to shape a new Dawn Economy Plan. The survey runs until November 22.
University of Melbourne research shows 13 per cent of Brisbane food and drink businesses open between 5am and 6am, with about half serving customers by 8am. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the responses will help improve park facilities, pathways and early-morning public transport options.
The council aims to build on Brisbane's reputation as a city of early risers and strengthen the 24-hour economy without cutting into late-night activity.
