Historic Beaconsfield pub targets new life as cafe and restaurant
The Club Hotel in Beaconsfield is on the market and could become a cafe and bakery.
The Club Hotel is a 600-square-metre 1880s building on Beaconsfield's main road that closed to the public but could have new life. Mr Heap bought it as a home in 2016 and would like it to become a bakery and cafe like Elizabeth Town Cafe, with a restaurant and bottleshop.
The building sits on the West Tamar tourist route between Launceston and northern Tasmania. The Club Hotel has three dining spaces, a commercial kitchen and manicured gardens.
Heap spent years renovating the property. He believes rebuilding from scratch would cost three times the $1.25 million asking price.
