Nick Watson wins Hawks best and fairest in breakthrough year
The 21-year-old forward won his first Peter Crimmins Medal after kicking 63 goals in 23 games.
Nick Watson's rise from draft pick five to Hawthorn superstar has been crowned with his first best and fairest medal. The small forward became All-Australian for the first time in August and now holds the Peter Crimmins Medal after beating co-captains Jai Newcombe and Jarman Impey.
Standing just 170 centimetres, Watson is the shortest medallist since John Platten in 1987. Watson kicked three or more goals 13 times this season, including a career-high 6.2 in the preliminary final loss to Brisbane.
Watson's speed and precision have made him Hawthorn's point of difference, terrorising opposition defenders across his third season at the club.
