Edge Early Learning shuts 11 centres, seven of them in Queensland
Buyers were found for 53 Edge centres, while 11 others were judged not viable to keep running.
Administrators KordaMentha found buyers for 53 Edge centres in Queensland and South Australia. No buyers could be found for 11 centres, which were not viable to keep running.
The 11 Edge centres will close, seven in Queensland, three in South Australia and one in the Australian Capital Territory. Parents at the 11 centres only found out with 48 hours' notice.
The closures follow Edge Early Learning's move into voluntary administration in August amid tough times for childcare operators. KordaMentha administrator David Johnstone acknowledged the impact on staff and families who now need other childcare arrangements.
Parents were advised in writing of nearby centres with some spots for new enrolments.
