Adam Scott: LIV golfers must re-qualify to join PGA Tour
Former world No. 1 Adam Scott says LIV Golf players should re-establish themselves through qualification after leaving the PGA Tour.
LIV Golf is being liquidated and shut down after a bankruptcy hearing on Wednesday, leaving players in limbo. The PGA Tour has not yet decided whether to readmit former members like Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson.
Adam Scott, speaking from the Abu Dhabi Championship, said LIV players should re-qualify. LIV Golf players left the PGA Tour and gave up their privileges, Scott argued, so they should prove themselves again.
PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp is a proponent of meritocracy and has not discussed readmitting LIV players until their contracts are terminated. A judge approved Rahm's separation from LIV this week, freeing him.
The PGA Tour imposes a one-year ban from a player's last LIV appearance, which for most expires in August 2027. The next PGA board meeting is November 17, focused on the new 2028 competitive model, not whether to bring back LIV defectors.
