Holden's Alpha platform still powers Cadillac's best V8 sedan
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing's Alpha platform was developed with Holden and powers the supercharged sedan today.
Holden stopped making cars in Australia nine years ago, but the company's engineering still shapes one of America's best performance sedans. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing uses an updated Alpha rear-wheel drive platform.
Holden co-developed this platform with General Motors. A Cadillac performance engineer told CarExpert the original geometry stays mostly the same.
GM has improved suspension tuning, brakes, and steering over the years. The result is a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 with 668 horsepower.
It offers a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic. This is what the last SS-V Redline might have become.
Cadillac only builds the CT5-V in left-hand drive. Cadillac's local lineup is now all-electric.
The car ends production this year. A new generation is planned for late 2028.
