Nik Cox delisted by Essendon after concussion battle
Essendon has delisted Nik Cox, the No.8 pick in the 2020 AFL draft, along with Tom Edwards and Kayle Gerreyn.
Essendon has removed three players from its list: Nik Cox, Tom Edwards and Kayle Gerreyn. Cox, 24, was selected No.8 in the 2020 draft and played 61 games for the Bombers, including eight this season, after fighting back from a two-year struggle with persistent concussion symptoms.
Edwards, a pre-season signing in 2025, played nine AFL games for Essendon. Gerreyn, the No.37 pick in 2024, never played at the top level.
The club said it will remain open to train-on opportunities for all three. Essendon indicated it has picks No.1, 17 and 25 in the upcoming draft and wants to maintain flexibility with its list.
