Lamarre-Condon asked colleague how murderers evade detection, trial hears
Police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon asked a colleague how murderers evade detection the day before he allegedly killed two men.
On February 18, 2024, Lamarre-Condon and investigator Ben Higginson worked together at a pro-Palestine protest. Lamarre-Condon asked Higginson about a murder case he was investigating: Lilie James, killed by Paul Thijssen in October 2023.
Lamarre-Condon asked if Thijssen would have "gotten away with it" if he hadn't killed himself. The two then discussed how detectives track suspects.
They talked about CCTV footage, cash versus bank cards, and phone location data. Lamarre-Condon was charged the next day with fatally shooting Jesse Baird and Luke Davies at Baird's Paddington home.
He has pleaded not guilty.
