Nathan Cleary wins first Dally M medal; Cobbo makes team of the year
Nathan Cleary won the Dally M medal as Selwyn Cobbo made the team of the year.
Nathan Cleary won his first Dally M medal and was named halfback in the NRL Team of the Year announced Wednesday night. Cleary's Penrith teammate Dylan Edwards was picked at fullback, beating Roosters gun James Tedesco to the spot.
Selwyn Cobbo earned a wing spot after a standout first season with the Dolphins, capped by a new contract earlier this year. The other wing went to Penrith's Tom Jenkins, who shared the top try-scorer award.
One surprise: Roosters winger Mark Nawaqanitawase was left out despite strong play. Players from the top-four sides Penrith, Warriors, Roosters and Dolphins dominated the 13-man squad, with each of the top teams represented.
Tamika Upton won her second Dally M Player of the Year award.
