Newcastle pubs fully booked for grand final fever
Newcastle's pubs and clubs are fully booked for Sunday's grand final, with venues adding extra TVs and doubling beer deliveries.
Newcastle's hospitality venues are packed to capacity ahead of Sunday's NRL grand final between the Knights and the Sydney Roosters. The Wickham Park Hotel logged 134 calls in a single day this week and has been fully booked a week in advance for three weeks running.
Mr Heels said every table vanishes within 30 minutes of a Knights win. The venue is taking two beer deliveries a week instead of one.
Extra tables have been set up in the beer garden. Other pubs including the Cross Keys Hotel and the Commonwealth Hotel have also reported every reserved table taken, with only walk-in spots remaining.
The surge includes casual fans caught up in the momentum, not just die-hard supporters.
