Narromine draws record crowds for Dolly Parton festival
Narromine's annual Dolly Parton festival set attendance records after the music icon died.
Narromine became "Dollymine" for the weekend festival. The festival celebrated Dolly Parton, who died in August at age 80.
A record crowd of visitors came to the town. Visitors wore pink outfits, rhinestones and bouffant wigs to honour her legacy.
The festival started in 2022 but was cancelled in 2024 due to money problems. It was saved by a $150,000 state grant and council help.
Festival organiser Skye Rush said locals and visitors filled shops and accommodation. Attendees spoke about what Parton meant to them, including her Imagination Library that sends books to children.
