Professor Mary-Louise McLaws' memorial tree vandalised
A memorial tree planted for late epidemiologist Mary-Louise McLaws was snapped near the base in North Sydney; the council will replace it.

The tree memorial stands in Mary Booth Reserve in Kirribilli. It overlooks Sydney Harbour Bridge.
A plaque beside it honours her work. A local reported the tree had been broken near the base.
They shared images on social media. North Sydney Council confirmed the damage and said it arranged for a replacement tree.
McLaws was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2022. She also advised the World Health Organisation.
