Explorer Ash Dykes found safe after 16 hours missing in Congo Basin
His team just received a message via satellite phone confirming everyone was safe after equipment failure cut off contact.
Extreme explorer Ash Dykes went missing for 16 hours during his trip down the Sangha River through the Congo Basin. The team reported Ash Dykes and his group had fallen silent.
Hours later, a message arrived via his Garmin device: everyone was safe. The team's Starlink equipment had failed and their power bank had died, cutting all videos and regular updates.
Dykes is on Project Six, attempting six extreme journeys back-to-back. His last update on October 20 described encounters with silverbacks, elephants, hippos, and dangerous insects.
