Melbourne photographer Daisy Nitsch won the AFL's Footy Focus 26 competition. The winning photo shows the RockDogs running onto the field at the Reclink Community Cup in Collingwood.
It was a joyful image. The competition drew more than 5000 entries from over 600 photographers.
Nearly 200 first-time entrants took part from across the country. Judges praised the winning photo for its bright colours, layered storytelling, and ability to capture the sense of belonging in community football.
Nitsch was a volunteer photographer at the event. They realised in that moment they were seeing something special.
As the winner, Nitsch will photograph an AFL round one match from the boundary at the MCG in 2027.
