Rudolf Salisa out on bail while his jail term is appealed
The judge put off the appeal until November so Salisa could get an appointment.
Rudolf Salisa stabbed a housemate and colleague through the hand with a boning knife in April. The fight began after an argument over a mobile phone charger at their Singleton share house.
Salisa pleaded guilty to reckless grievous bodily harm and was jailed in August for a maximum of 18 months. Salisa was granted bail after his lawyers appealed against the severity of his sentence.
Salisa's solicitor, Georgia Redmond, argued he is addressing his anger management issues. Prosecutors rated him a low risk of reoffending and did not oppose an alternative to jail.
Prosecutors would feel more comfortable if he had a psychologist appointment. Judge Tim Gartelmann adjourned the appeal until November.
