One Nation launches Victorian election campaign on crime policy
One Nation launches Victorian campaign on crime with voters ranking it as the state's top concern.
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson and Victorian state leader Warren Pickering launched their election campaign Saturday at Melbourne's Crown, with more than 750 supporters. The party is putting crime and bail reform at the centre of its pitch, promising to get more officers on streets and fill empty police stations.
A new poll shows one in three Victorians rate crime as their top issue, higher than any other state. Voters pick Labor at 16 per cent and One Nation at 19 per cent to manage crime and safety.
Anti-racism groups are planning protests outside the launch and a larger rally later in October. The Saturday launch will be Pickering's first major test as leader after he faced scrutiny in September over past drug use.
