Labor pledges school funding for Bendigo as Nationals offer no plan
Labor pledged $7.9m to Maiden Gully Primary and $18m to Bendigo Senior Secondary College; Nationals criticized without presenting their own education plan.
Labor announced school funding for Bendigo after Nationals candidate David Hutchings attacked the promises as hollow. Nationals did not respond to questions about matching the pledges or offering alternatives.
Maiden Gully Primary, which has growing enrollment of about 80 new prep students yearly, will use its $7.9m to build six new classrooms. School principal Jordan Ancrum said the funding was welcomed because the school is currently a sea of portables.
The state election is November 28. If Labor wins, the money would be included in the budget and construction would start soon after.
