The US military withdrew all B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford after the base became the target of a suspected terror plot last weekend. Counterterror police in the UK are investigating whether Iran was behind the alleged attack.
Six people were arrested on suspicion of terrorism and explosives offences. Five were British nationals and one was a UK-Iranian national.
All have since been bailed. Police found petrol in three vans linked to the suspects but no explosives.
RAF Fairford is on the Gloucestershire-Wiltshire border and regularly hosts long-range US aircraft and hundreds of American military staff. The Pentagon confirmed the bombers have returned to the United States and remain ready to strike from continental US bases.
